Recently, Zhunneng Group’s Coal Preparation Plant officially commenced its 2025 Product System Renovation Project. Equipped with advanced intelligent dry separation technology and an annual treatment of 5.3 million tonnes of coal gangue, which can be separated into 920,000 tonnes of kaolinite, the Project is expected to realize an annual revenue of RMB 55.2 million. The implementation of this Project marks an important step in the field of high-value utilization of coal gangue, which not only effectively revitalizes the solid waste resources but also creates new profit growth for the enterprise.

Coal gangue is the main solid waste in the process of coal mining and washing, and its long-term storage is prone to cause spontaneous combustion and environmental pollution. Located in the coal storage site of the coal preparation plant, the renovation project realizes the transformation of “waste material” into “resource” by efficiently extracting kaolinite from the coal gangue through intelligent dry separation technology. Kaolinite is extensively adopted in ceramics, papermaking and other industries with strong market demand. Compared with the traditional wet washing process, the intelligent dry separation technology has the advantages including high separation precision, low energy consumption, and zero wastewater discharge, which can accurately improve the recovery rate and reduce the operating costs.

It is reported that the Project is scheduled to be put into production by the end of 2025. Upon completion, the Project will reduce a large amount of coal gangue storage each year, facilitating the enterprise to realize a win-win outcome for environmental protection and economic benefits. The Project will form a resource-efficient utilization system featuring “coal preparation-solid waste treatment-high value conversion”, injecting new momentum for the Company’s high-quality development.
