On December 17, the remote control system for China’s first GR5505 blader successfully passed safety review, project acceptance, and scientific and technological achievement appraisal at Yanbao Energy’s Baorixile Mine. Appraised by the China Construction Machinery Society, the overall achievements of the project have reached an internationally advanced level and hold demonstrative value for promoting the transformation of intelligent open-pit mining towards digitalization and unmanned operation.

Launched in March 2024, the project involved the retrofitting of an existing GR5505 blader. Retrofit component including on-board cameras, on-board hosts, and on-board controllers were installed on the blader, along with a dedicated remote control driving platform. These formed a complete remote control operating system for the blader, enabling operators to remotely control the GR5505 blader from a remote cockpit. Following vehicle modification, system integration testing, and formation operation trials, the project fully met all technical specifications, successfully achieving stable remote control application of the GR5505 blader in the mining area. On-site tests verified stable operation and precise control in remote operation mode even in extreme cold weather of -40°C. It met the technical requirements of a single scraping width of 5 meters and an operating speed of 2.78 meters per second, achieving the efficiency of 13.9 square meters per second, with excellent overall operational performance.

Currently, the project has completed system integration and mixed production with unmanned mining trucks. It has enhanced the original vehicle operator’s field of view and safety performance while enabling bidirectional information synchronization between the vehicle and equipment. The system features a mixed operation safety mechanism with “one-click emergency stop”, capable of automatically stopping and parking unmanned mining trucks within a 50-meter radius in emergency situations, thereby improving safety assurance capabilities.
